Taking photo and video sharing to a new level

The social media world is an ever changing one. It goes through static moments where little seems to change and then another network comes along that slightly kinks the model a little bit. Facebook started it off and then there was Twitter for words, Instagram for photos and i read recently that users now send over 2 billion Snapchat photos and videos every day. Astonishing! So why do we need another social network to complicate our lives even further?  More

Find all the kids activities that are going on around you in a flash

Now that the local newspaper has pretty much bitten the dust, it's hard work finding out all the activities that are going on in your local area. It's not so bad for adults because most of our extracurricular activities - whether they be movies, bands or outdoor events - are advertised reasonably heavily. Entertainment for kids, on the other hand, can be quite low-key with organizers often dependent on word of mouth to get people to come along.  More

Log the ages and birthdays of your friends and family with a countdown to the big day

When I first looked at AgeLog I figured that it was just another birthday reminder for your iPhone. I was trying to work out why there was yet another app like this when there were so many others on the market already. However, while it does include many of the features that many birthday apps have, AgeLog puts a slightly different emphasis on proceedings. It's 'raisin d'être' is to log the ages of all the people around us.  More

What is your porn name, anyway?

I'm sure everyone has, at some point, played the 'what's your porn star name' game. I guess the most popular way of playing it is by using your pet's name as your first name and coupling it with the name of the street that you first lived in as your surname. For me that means I would become Buffy Wellington if I were ever to chance my arm in the porn industry. One thing's for sure, when you add something like alcohol,  it's a game that'll be guaranteed to break the ice at parties and delivers a hell of a lot of  laughs in the process.Nomenclature is a very simple and fun new ...  More

Document, share, list and rank all your favorite things and places

There was a time when folks used to always have a small notebook or a diary tucked away in their pocket wherever they went. It was vital to keep a note of all those important things like phone numbers and addresses and to write stuff down that you didn't want to forget. At home they might keep a scrapbook to paste in photos and the like or a travel log if they'd been on vacation. I wonder if anyone does that stuff anymore - especially when you can keep all that stuff and more on an app for your iPhone in your pocket. The curiously named aRoo is a new lifestyle app for iOS where you can ...  More

Classic old school gameplay for modern devices

I went to visit some friends down the coast recently and it occurred to me that the choice of home entertainment goes down big time as soon as one gets away from the city. We played a few games of cards before someone pulled out a peg solitaire game and that was it for the rest of the evening. I'd forgotten how wonderfully addictive and entertaining it was. I guess there was a little bit of synchronicity involved when I came across this entertaining puzzle game for iOS that bears some basic similarities. Paradot is a minimalistic retro style action puzzle game that literally offers a new ...  More

Could this be the next Candy Crush Saga?

When Candy Crush Saga was first unleashed onto the mobile market back in 2012 there wasn't a huge amount of fuss about it. It was the follow on from the very successful browser game - Candy Crush. At the time, FarmVille 2 was killing it as the most popular game on Facebook The rest of the story is history and, within a year, Candy Crush Saga was made available to multiple platforms and had almost 50 million users playing it every month. There have been a multitude of games released since then that have tried to steal a little of Candy Crush's gloss and to cash in on its dominance in the ...  More

The first online and in-person game to use GIFs to get your message across

It's not easy to come up with an original game concept these days. YIX is a new game for iOS that actually manages to come up with something a little bit different to keep us amused. Well, to be honest, you can't really call this entertaining and very social game truly original because it's origins lie in games like Cards Against Humanity and Apples To Apples but, with it's use of animated GIFs rather than cards, it offers a unique take on a fun and often hilarious piece of entertainment that you can play with family and friends.   The creation and consumption of GIFs has risen to ...  More

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi

According to Goldman-Sachs, Australia is one of the least likely nations to win the twentieth FIFA World Cup when it concludes in the middle of July. I'm sure it didn't take them too long to work that one out. But you can never tell with this Australian team. If i remember rightly, they were within a hairs breath of taking a 10-man Italian team into extra time at the 2006 tournament until a woeful penalty decision gave the Italians victory in the 95th minute. The fact of the matter is, on the big stage, anyone can beat pretty well anybody on their day. So, these Aussie boys are going to ...  More
