Review your favorite things in just a word or two and share your opinions with your friends

When you ask a friend what they thought of a movie, a book or a restaurant they've visited, the chances are the first thing will say will be short and sweet. Their first response will often come down to something simple like "it's great" or "it's rubbish" before going on to describe it in more detailed terms. While its hardly a detailed response, once they've delivered those fateful initial couple of words, your mind will be made up pretty quickly as to it's worthiness. As the Impressions once sang..."First impressions are lasting impressions..."  More

A great looking movie app for recommendations and info

Back in an earlier life I ran DVD and video stores. Good ones too, if I do say so myself. They were stores where you could come in and talk to the people behind the counter and walk out with a great film that you might or might not have heard of. You could rely on those kinda stores to provide you with good knowledge and excellent film recommendations because we knew what we were doing and we loved movies of all kinds.   More

Get social while you find great new movies

It seems to get more and more difficult to find a really good movie these days - especially if your taste runs to more than multi million dollar blockbusters that seem to dominate the multiplexes. There used to be the local DVD store down the road that would always have someone working that knows their stuff but they are few and far between in the digital age. So there needs to be another knowledge base of good films to tap into that ensures that lesser known masterpieces like Donnie Darko and Cloud Atlas don't slip through the cracks. We've seen plenty of movie recommendation apps over ...  More

Complete production management, scheduling and budgeting for your indie film at a great price

One thing that many a budding independent filmmaker doesn't realize until its too late is that the art of making a movie isn't just about the physical action of making the film itself. The grim reality is that there's a lot of paperwork involved - especially if you are the producer, director and writer. With film industry budgets tighter than they have been for many years, it's important to be well organized and have everything mapped out for when things do go off the rails a bit - and they probably will. There are a number of apps on the market to help you with this - Scenechronize being ...  More

The only mobile Android app that gives you everything that iMovie does ... and then gives you more

They reckon that all those movie directors like Spielberg, Lucas and Scorsese cut their teeth by making short films with their Super 8 cameras. It makes it all the more impressive when you look at an app like this one. There used to be a time when books like Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide and Moviehound were certainties to be found on the bookshelves of many homes around the world. But the last ten years or so has seen the growth of online content over the printed book and it's now far more convenient to search online than it is to try to find the book. The emergence of the app has made it an even more user friendly experience.
