A social community for the writers amongst us

There have been positives and negatives to the world of writing since the introduction of the ebook and kindle a few years back. On the one hand there seems to be less physical books on the shelves of stores but on the positive side, it has opened things up to the point where virtually anyone can now write and be published electronically. All that's needed is some inspiration and a good writing style. That's the difficult part!  More

A social network for creatives with more than fifty shades of grey

Don't panic, MinaGrey is not the follow up to Fifty Shades of Grey! It's far more worthy to me than that poorly written piece of fluff. Let me just say from the outset here. This free, art and writing application is unlike any other app that we've seen before here at the FeedMyApp offices. I guess the best way to describe it is would be as a non-commercial artistic and creative community where musicians, artists, writers and scientists can freely share ideas, concepts and their artistic skills with the rest of the world. It's a social network - run by its users - that is as far removed ...  More

A new, easy and provocative way of writing a personal diary or journal

You might have seen a review that FeedMyApp posted recently for an app called BooksTo.Me. In it, it was mentioned how posting daily Instagram photos has become the new diary for many people and how it was a convenient way of documenting your life. The diary concept has all but disappeared for many these days, but with so many popular online versions available as well as the plethora of personal blogs and journals, it’s obvious that many have a hankering to document their daily activities. But anyone who writes on a daily basis will know that the hardest sentence to write is the very ...  More

Engage your customers better by packaging rich content together in one place

If you are trying to market and promote a brand or a product (or yourself, if it comes to that) then, the chances are, you will have social media pages, blogs, videos, eBooks and more - all working for you. The main problem here though, is that these individual advertising areas are spread all over the Internet. You run the risk of your viewers getting distracted by other content when you send them to places like YouTube to view your content. Uberflip is a marketing and publishing application that centralizes all your content into one all-encompassing Hub to keep your customers and viewers ...  More

Collaborative writing that is fun as well as being educational

To my mind, an app like Fablelane has two separate reasons for existence. First and foremost, this collaborative storyboard can encourage writers of all ages - but especially young writers - to get involved in story creation and get social at the same time. But its other purpose -as an educational tool - could well be the more important and the more useful of the two. You can use the app to fuel your creative mind and continue someone else's story, write the beginning of a story of your own or you can use it in a more educational way by testing your writing skills with your tutor.   ...  More

Take digital notes using editable handwritten and typed text

I think I've lost count on the amount of note-taking apps that have been made available over the last few years and many of them have proven to be very useful indeed. However, very few have the ability to edit and add to your notes and offer the flexibility and functionality as this one. DioNote is a new note-taking application that is very easy to use and gives you the ability to create handwritten as well as typed notes & text that can then be edited as well as illustrated with drawings and photos. This slick looking and classy writing and editing application slips right in your ...  More

A step by step guide to help you write your first novel

It wasn't that long ago that I had an idea to write my first novel. I was fascinated with the concept of so many celebrities dying at the age of 27 (check it out...I'm serious) and I was thinking f a way of weaving the idea into a credible story. Needless to say, the idea of typing the whole thing out and working out various plot lines with little or no blueprint to work from got to me and the project got put on the back burner. The next thing I know, I'm casually doing an Internet search on '27' and there it is. Someone had written a screenplay and made a movie of the story that I wanted ...  More

Intuitive tools to help your writing to flow naturally

The art of writing can be a difficult thing unless you are well organized and have the right equipment at your disposal. Many of us have lots of different Word documents, sheets of paper or just stuff in our head waiting to get out and, if only we could organize them a little better, we could well have the next great novel in front of us. Gingko is a new word processor that is the only one that allows you to see the structure of your writing as well as the content on one page at the same time. This allows you (as well as your collaborators) to see the big picture. Gingko is a tree-like ...  More

This text editing tool will be a big time saver for researchers

If I had a dollar for every browser-based text editing tool on the market I would be a happy man. But, of course, some are better than others and some are a downright waste of time. TextEVO is a free set of online, cloud-based text editing and manipulation tools that offers something that many of the others don't. With this smart and time saving app you can simply type in the URL of the web page you are editing and TextEVO will extract all the text and allow you to edit it easily. as you can imagine, for researchers basing their work on material on the net, this free application could well ...  More

Turn your handwritten notes into text and share them immediately

Apps these days just seem to get cooler and cooler. I was just talking to a friend the other day and I mentioned that the app world is moving at a resounding speed and, no sooner have you got used to one excellent innovation, that another comes along to overtake it. PhatPad is an iOS drawing and writing application with a difference. It turns your iPad into what they call an 'advanced brainstorming tool' and let's you handwritten or typed notes and ideas and share them instantly.   More than another note-taking app, PhatPad turns your iPad into an advanced brainstorming tool. Draw, ...  More
